1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, downloading, or using LatticeVeil (the "Game"), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Game or any related services.

Your continued use of the Game following any changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of those changes.

2. License Grant

LatticeVeil grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Game for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. This license does not grant you any rights to the intellectual property contained in the Game.

Allowed Uses

Play the Game on devices you own or control
Create and share user-generated content within the Game
Stream and create videos of gameplay for non-commercial purposes
Take screenshots and capture gameplay footage

Restrictions

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the Game
You may not use the Game for any commercial purposes without explicit permission
You may not cheat, hack, exploit, or use automated tools to gain unfair advantages
You may not distribute, sell, or license the Game or any modified versions
You may not use the Game to violate any applicable laws or regulations

3. User Accounts

Some features of the Game may require you to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent to use the Game.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or engage in prohibited activities.

4. User-Generated Content

You retain ownership of any content you create within the Game ("User Content"). However, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, modify, and distribute your User Content for the purpose of operating and improving the Game.

You are solely responsible for your User Content and must ensure it does not violate third-party rights, including copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.

We reserve the right to remove User Content that violates these Terms or applicable laws.

5. Veilnet Community Guidelines

Veilnet is the social platform within LatticeVeil that enables players to connect, share content, and interact with each other. By using Veilnet, you agree to follow these community guidelines and maintain a safe, respectful environment for all users.

🤝 Expected Behavior

Be respectful - Treat all community members with kindness and respect
Stay constructive - Provide helpful feedback and engage in positive discussions
Share appropriately - Post content that is relevant and appropriate for all ages
Protect privacy - Do not share personal information about yourself or others
Be authentic - Do not impersonate others or create misleading profiles

🚫 Prohibited Activities

Harassment - No bullying, threats, hate speech, or discriminatory content
Inappropriate content - No explicit, violent, or offensive material
Spam - No repetitive messages, unwanted advertising, or mass messaging
Exploitation - No attempts to exploit bugs, cheat, or harm the platform
Illegal content - No content that violates applicable laws or regulations
Malicious behavior - No phishing, malware distribution, or security threats

📸 Content Sharing & Screenshots

Original content - Only share content you have created or have rights to share
Appropriate sharing - Ensure shared screenshots and recordings are appropriate for all audiences
Credit others - When sharing collaborative work, credit all contributors appropriately
No spoilers - Be considerate about sharing story spoilers or major discoveries

🛡️ Safety & Reporting

Report violations - Help keep the community safe by reporting guideline violations
Block users - Use blocking features for users who make you uncomfortable
Protect minors - Additional care will be taken to protect younger users
Moderator actions - Respect moderator decisions and community enforcement

⚔️ Enforcement & Consequences

Warning system - Minor violations may result in warnings and temporary restrictions
Content removal - Inappropriate content will be removed without notice
Account suspension - Serious or repeated violations may result in temporary suspension
Permanent bans - Severe violations may result in permanent removal from Veilnet
Game impact - Veilnet violations may also affect your game access and privileges

6. Online Services & Third Parties

The Game may include online multiplayer features powered by Epic Online Services (EOS). Your use of these features is subject to Epic Games' terms of service and privacy policy, which can be found at:

7. Supporter Contributions

LatticeVeil is developed as a free project, but you can support continued development through voluntary contributions.

💝 PayPal Supporter Program

Supporters can contribute through PayPal to help fund development:

Voluntary contributions - All donations are optional and greatly appreciated
Development funding - Contributions directly support game development, server costs, and content creation
No ownership rights - Donations do not grant equity, ownership, or decision-making power
Supporter recognition - Contributors may receive optional recognition features (at our discretion)

� Refund Policy

PayPal donations are generally non-refundable, but we understand accidents happen:

Accidental payments - If you accidentally donate, contact us within 30-60 minutes for a full refund
Change of mind - Donations are not refundable if you simply change your mind later
Processing fees Refunds may be subject to PayPal's processing fees

🎮 Supporter Features

Any supporter features, early access content, or bonuses are provided "as-is" and may change, improve, or be replaced over time.
Access to supporter features may be revoked in cases of abuse, exploitation, or redistribution of content.

We may integrate advertisements to support continued free development:

Optional ad viewing - Ads may be offered as optional ways to support development
Ad-free supporter option - Supporters may receive ad-free experience as a benefit
Family-friendly ads only - All advertisements will be appropriate for all ages
No invasive tracking - Ad integration will maintain our privacy-first approach

🎁 Starter Pack Freebie Toggle

Future updates may include a "Starter Pack" toggle for new players:

Optional starter items - New players can choose to start with basic tools and storage
Balanced gameplay - Starter items will be balanced to maintain fair gameplay
Storage container - May include a starter bag or chest for inventory management
Basic tools - Essential tools for early game progression
One-time selection - Players can only choose starter options once per save/world
Purely optional - Traditional starting without items will always remain available

Future updates will include an integrated launcher with automatic update capabilities:

Version checking - Launcher will automatically detect and compare current version with latest release
Self-replacement capability - Launcher can replace its own executable while running
Asset synchronization - Updates game assets simultaneously with executable updates
Seamless updates - Updates will not break saves, worlds, or user progress
Rollback protection - Failed updates will automatically restore previous working version
Update regardless - Users can update to latest version regardless of current version
Backup creation - Automatic backups created before any update process
Delta updates - Only download changed files to minimize bandwidth usage

8. Independence, Inspirations & Distribution Terms

LatticeVeil is an independent, open source voxel sandbox game and is not affiliated, sponsored, endorsed, or connected with any other voxel, sandbox, or block-based games. Similarity in voxel style or gameplay mechanics does not imply any official relation to these titles.

For clarity, LatticeVeil is independent from but may share visual or gameplay inspiration with established voxel games such as:

Minecraft - Standard and iconic voxel survival/building game

📦 Open Source Distribution & Modifications

LatticeVeil's open-source code can be forked, compiled, and used under its license terms. However, the following restrictions apply:

Modified versions cannot claim to be official LatticeVeil releases
No interference with official releases - Modified versions must not conflict with or replace official distribution channels
Clear attribution required - Modified versions must clearly indicate they are unofficial forks
No decompiling beyond licensed use - Reverse engineering is limited to what is permitted under the open source license
No trademark infringement - Cannot use LatticeVeil branding or trademarks in ways that suggest official endorsement

🌐 GitHub Hosting & Distribution

LatticeVeil is hosted and distributed through GitHub. Users must comply with both our license and GitHub's Terms of Service:

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Game at any time, with or without cause, including for violations of these Terms or applicable laws.

Upon termination, your right to use the Game will cease immediately, but all provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply.

10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The Game is provided "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We make no warranties regarding the Game's performance, reliability, or suitability for any particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LatticeVeil shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Game.

Our total liability under these Terms shall not exceed the amount you have paid (if any) for the Game.

11. Intellectual Property

The Game and all content, features, and functionality thereof are owned by LatticeVeil and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

All rights not expressly granted to you in these Terms are reserved by LatticeVeil.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and post notice of significant changes in the Game or on our website.

Your continued use of the Game after any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in accordance with the governing law's dispute resolution procedures.
